Members of our team were invited by Developing Young Workforce (DYW) Shetland to attend an event at Aith School recently so our general manager, Adam Priest and apprentice engineer Adam Fleck were happy to attend.
They created an electrical experiment for interested pupils to try to create a circuit that, when wired and assembled correctly, created enough power to light up a bulb.
After providing demonstrations on the correct method and explaining more about the basics of the experiment, it was over to the pupils, under supervision, to test their practical electrical skills.
There were many who visited our table, enquired about what a career within the technical, electrical and engineering disciplines with our company entailed, before trying the electrical test with many successful outcomes.
Our thanks to DYW for use of the photos below and for organising such an important event that shows our young islanders the opportunities for potential careers available with many local companies.
Keeping skills and our young local workforce in Shetland is the key to our islands' overall success in the future.
