It was back in April 2021 that D H Marine and Lerwick Port Authority contributed £500 to the Lucky2BHere charity, who supplied an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Defibrillators are portable electronic devices that automatically diagnose and treat life threatening cardiac arrhythmias that cause cardiac arrest.
Since then, we have completed weekly and monthly checks on the AED to ensure it's all in good working order, with pads and batteries refreshed when required. This week our technical team also completed a thorough maintenance examination of the unit.
This AED is also on https://thecircuit.uk which is the National Distributor Network, which provides the nearest location to someone who needs assistance.
It's location on the side of our building, close to the steps leading to/from Lerwick Marina slipway at the Marina Business Park in Lerwick, has helped increase the availability of this time critical life-saving equipment to everyone in the local area, including businesses and all Lerwick Marina users.
We are very pleased to have this life saving equipment at our premises and to keep it maintained for immediate use, should this ever be required.
